Because achieving new levels of team performance requires mutual goals, group agreements, new behaviors and support for embedding new ways of thinking and working together, teams are coached in a collective learning environment.

This facilitates a deeper understanding of the team’s communication and interactive dynamics. Additionally, developing team agreements for how the group will interact with each other sets clear expectations and provides a supportive structure for the work.

The Process

While the approach and specifics are customized to your team and situation, the typical engagement includes the following:

  1. Discovery: Interviewing the team leader or a more senior stakeholder to gain an understanding of the current status of the team and where it needs to grow. We will also discuss what success for the team looks like.
  2. Assessment: An initial assessment of the team using a team survey and/or a communication assessment tool for each member of the team.
  3. Kick-Off: Conducting an initial workshop with the team to co-create goals and objectives for the team coaching engagement.
  4. Coaching: Meeting with the team on a recurring basis to review progress and provide ongoing guidance and support. During these sessions, the team will report successes and obstacles to the changes they are making and discuss solutions.
  5. Real-World Observation & Real-Time Feedback: Potential Within observes the team in work discussions and facilitate essential conversations between members of the team.
  6. One-on-One Coaching: As needed, we’ll work with team members individually to zero in on areas impacting the team’s progress as a whole.
  7. Completion: A final gathering with the team to revisit where they started on their journey, assess their progress and set new commitments regarding what they will do to maintain the changes they’ve made.
